CTI (Commercial Timesharing Inc.) initially offered software and computing services in 1978, when the expense of a computer system was driven by high hardware costs. By developing custom software implemented on time-shared minicomputers, CTI enabled multiple companies to take advantage of the latest technology in a cost effective way.
Over the years, as the cost of computers dropped, CTI moved with the market to provide software solutions and engineering services to a variety of manufacturers from tire,
automotive, steel and other specialized industries.

By 1986, CTI was actively using Hewlett Packard and HP-UX Unix to integrate machine controls with higher level mainframe computers, delivering real-time information to help manufacturers respond to a constantly changing production environment. Later, we developed our own CCWS Unix OS for a diskless Intel, industrialized, PC computer to enable our customers to set up workstations where they needed them -- on the factory floor. With these technologies, CTI has integrated critical scheduling, work-in-progress, inventory, and productivity information to drive increased control and efficiency.

In the early 1990's CTI was contracted to build control technology for tire uniformity machines (TUO) built by a several companies, including Akron Special Machinery. Eventually CTI licensed this and other technology, refined it, and now offers its TTOC-II TUO controller and the laser-based Tire Sidewall Inspection System (TSIS) to the tire industry to improve cycle time, accuracy, and reduce down time.

CTI has continued to innovate by developing hosting applications to manage these systems. Web based applications allow both local and remote users to monitor and configure the control systems, as well as benefit from a variety of communication and reporting applications. This naturally led to commercial hosting of these specialized programs, because the engineering costs with maintaining and supporting commercial web projects are high. The name Commercial Timesharing Inc. still applies.
